Philadelphia sports fans and area residents finally had a bright spot last night. Even if it was just for a few hours, we were able to enjoy and not think about all the other things we keep thinking about.
For a few hours - we were able to take our minds off the daily grind
For a few hours - we had an excuse not to care about the presidential race and not watch the debate
For a few hours - we were able to forget about the slumping economy
For a few hours - we didn't care about the stock market
For a few hours - we didn't care about the housing market
For a few hours - we watched the Philadelphia Phillies clinch the National League pennant and head to the World Series for the first time since 1993.
Some say it's just a game, but for many, it's so much more.
Congratulations to the Phillies! And thank you! I'll be watching again next Wednesday for Game 1 and forgetting everything else...even if it's for just a few hours.
